Hotel Fora

Logo + Branding | Editorial Design

Hotel Fora project mockup

Overview 📍

This was an academic project created for a graphic design course at BCIT. The goal was to create an e-brochure for a resort hotel to showcase logo design, branding, and editorial design skills.

Tools Used  ⚙️

  • Illustrator
  • InDesign
  • Photoshop

Concept

Hotel Fora is an elegant resort hotel situated steps away from Pink Sands Beach in Harbour Island, The Bahamas. Being on the beachfront, guests would be able to enjoy snorkeling, surfing, swimming, and other activities at their own leisure. For other entertainment, there would be restaurants, artisanal bakeries, and beautiful souvenir shops nearby to explore.

Logo

The logo is inspired by the shells of foraminifera, the tiny coral organisms responsible for the blush colours of Pink Sands Beach. The negative space inside the logo depicts soft rays of sunlight, representing the tropical Bahamian climate.

Colours

The brand colours reflect the connection between land and sea, as well as the first encounter between guests and Harbour Island as they step foot onto the shore.

Typography

An elegant font with beautiful curves and ligatures was chosen for the headings, as it is reminiscent of ocean waves. A clean typeface was chosen for the body copy, and the rounded edges ensure that the letters still feel welcoming and hospitable.

E-Brochure

While creating the brochure in InDesign, a focus was placed on keeping the pages simple but informative, in order to match the brand image of a serene vacation destination. Adobe Stock was used for the photos, in order to provide high-resolution visuals of the accomodations, facilities, meeting rooms, and dining options for the hotel.

Final Steps

The e-brochure and brand guide were uploaded to Google Drive and a Photoshop template was used to display the project mockup.
